one of the worst things in the development of bullet journals is the creation of reading trackers imo. people seem to just be setting themselves up for disappointment and self-loathing with those things, I'm always seeing posts in group about how upset they are they didn't read "enough" books that month/year

fiddled with Notion a bit more this past week, & managed to simplify my digital reading journal (not for sale). it still has a huge chunk of my old full-width multi-column book hub, but it looks & feels so much more organized. must be all that negative space, ig (/j).

End of Year Books Read

(AKA showing off my messy 2024 tracker)

So excited to have filled the bookshelf (and had to add stacks below and above to fit everything).

Not pictured are the pages and pages where I rated each book (and sometimes pulled a nice quote). It feels kinder to rate on paper than to blast a low score across goodreads for a book that I didn't personally enjoy. Also, this way I can let go of the physical copies of most of the books and keep a photo of their cover between the pages of my journal. My no-longer-overflowing bookshelf thanks me for that.

Catalogued most of these books into my book tracker spreadsheet

Continued working on my side project to code a dashboard to display my book collection stats

2024 Reading Wrapped!! Did not meet my goal of 50 books this year but I’m still proud of myself. Follow me on storygraph if you want!! I love this app, the stats are so fun. And there are a bunch of fun user-made challenges you can join!

I don’t usually read that many classics, I read a bunch of Hemingway and Fitzgerald for a class in college.(The C.S. Lewis is a lie though I only read one of his books 🤷‍♀️ idk. The app can be glitchy but I think the pros outweigh the cons)

So, upon @delienn ’s recommendation I deleted goodreads and downloaded storygraph instead. The cool thing is the app lets you import your library from goodreads! I didn’t do it since my list was pretty short but I think it would save many people from the trouble.

If anyone uses it and wants to add me my user is @/bilgee , I couldn’t figure out if there’s a way to personalize your account more lol but it’s fine
